Hi people! Couldn't go for the class outing last sat... but im officially out of job! *hurray* which means im actually very free now... *hint hint*

Ok here's an update of my life after As...

In early Jan... I actually went to do relief teaching in my primary sch. My stint started on the first week of school, and they actually arranged for me to look after primary one girls... It was quite scary... cos they look like they'll cry very easily. haha. But some of them are indeed very cute! (but even their supreme cuteness didnt make me fall in love with the job).

I rem there's this little girl, with those puss-in-boots kind of big eyes, who came up to me and said in an extremely sincere and honest manner," Miss Wong, Miss Wong... Do u know that u cannot buy a magnet?"

Den i was quite puzzled... "Huh? Why cant i buy a magnet?"

She said," Becos they'll get stuck to ur braces"

Man... so adorable rite???

Okay, as ive said earlier, their cuteness didnt manage to make me stay on the job for long. I had to scream at them everyday and primary school kids seem to have endless amount of energy... and me being so old cant keep up to their energy levels.

So I stopped going after a couple of weeks.

Then after that, i went to work at a human resource consulting firm. It's a consulting firm, not a recruitment firm haha i had to explain it so many times.

Learnt alot on the job like all the soft skills in handling people, and also the oh-so-complex microsoft excel.

Ohhh.. and recently, Sher and I went back to hwa chong to collect our year book.

The school seems pretty much the same... though there are some minor changes... For those of u who havent visited the school for very long... do u all know that now there're big full length mirrors jus outside the ladies... Quite cool rite? Haha kinda reminds me of my st nicks days when there're mirrors at every level of the staircases.

And well... there's the very patriotic hci dustbins... hehe...

And finally, how can we forget the place where we spent the most time stoning away, playing chapteh, doing last minute tutorials... haha ...

but apparently our original 65 spot is no longer for S65... think our grandjuniors moved to the table next to the original spot...

Oh well... so much for my hwa chong adventure. Meet up people... ya? :)

ok. I shall be obedient, listen to Hongli and update about what i did for the past holiday. side-track 1st.. Is Hongli back? If YES where are our GIFTS Hongli?!!

Well, being highly in need of money and some activity to kill time (at the same time to boost that resume), I worked with several companies. Sounds like I worked a lot eh? Haha... it's a facade then.

Last december I worked with Eureka Travels on several assignments mainly faciliting tourists disembarking and embarking cruises. Most of them are ang mohs who have already retired and tonnes of money to squander. Thus explaining why they would spend money going on the cruise travelling around on the cruise for months! Though rich, they happen not to tip generously. In real fact, they do not tip at all :S. Well, maybe it's just the Singapore rule for tourists not to tip.

Then beginning January to late April, I worked with the renowned Symantec Pte Ltd which produces our famous Norton Antivirus. All in all, being couped up in an office is bad for health and soul. Office politics and always being fearful of being spotted msn-ing or slacking in office is definitely not my cup of tea. What to do? Money. I would only want to scream one line everyday, "Can the Japanese stop ordering Norton Antivirus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" (working in the Japan Order Service Group which outsourced to Singapore). So now, I am a pro with all the version number, sku number, purchase order number and sales order number. NUMBERS... YOU NAME IT. =) Oh Jirong and Wee Leng worked there too. Thanks Jirong for the job though coz it is quite high paying. haha

Then after that I didn't become a major slacker. I did meaningful jobs i.e. some earning money some voluntarily. Involved in organising a Parent Day for HELP FSC (organisation helping single-parented families). It was great organising and helping out at HELP again. Smiles are great gifts.

Apart from that, I did some assignments with Synergiy Coaching. Going to Primary and Secondary Schools to faciliate their school activities. Namely: Leadership Workshop, Service Learning, Lifeskills Camp etc. Facilitated as a "coach" in that sense. Kids these days are monsters.. hahahaha.. I think maybe it's part of the upbringing and environment too.. some are unenthusiastic, whiny and refuse to listen to you. But some are just great =) even though they are from like normal academic etc. Conclusion is.. you just have to have more patience with these kids.. plus the passion to guide them to a correct path in life. =) I can proudly say I definitely had the patience and passion then during my coaching.. BUT I have also concluded that.. SORRY I AM NO TEACHER MATERIAL period.

Now, I am playing in a netball league and doing netball umpiring. Oh.. and tomorrow I am going to ms lim's boyfriend (or isit husband.. according to wantian) 's company to work. Thanks ms lim for the lobang! Enough updates about my life.. what about all of yours? =) Get down to update people.

Ok now back to blogging about my life. Haha I officially became jobless on 30th april. And though I have calculated, it is only about a week plus, (ie 9 days) I am feeling very bored. Haha maybe I lack motivation in life! Now doing things becomes very hard, I am too lazy to go out, too lazy to go library, exercise, market, etc etc. sometimes I even get too lazy to go toilet. Hahaha. Shows how bored I am. So to those ppl working, think of the money rolling into your banks!! And how bored and lonely you will be at home haha then you wont be bored. But that being said, I LOVE BEING JOBLESS HA.

Okiez, for those who duno, I worked at singtel call centre, billing section ie 1688 and kena scolded from ppl of dif walks of life, young to old, fat to thin etc etc. haha, but its been very fun there cos you really see a lot of nice ppl esp the aunties there are really funny and nice. They are so nice, every morning when I come to work I have breakfast for me on my table, such as curry puff, soya bean milk, biscuits chin chow, cakes etc. and my colleague even woke up in the morning to cook bee hoon for the department! Haha they are really all very motherly and treat me as their kid so I must say though the customers are really very unreasonable, at least, I dont feel bored there, because when there are no calls, I have abundant things to chat with my aunties =) and i'm lucky that my temps friends are all nice friendly and jovial. and I work at the 20th storey, so I can see esplanade and what not and all the cars from that level looks like toy cars haha.

lobster catching

Venue: Kranji reservoir
Day: 25th march (sunday)
meet at 9am at kranji mrt station

yup so that star on the map is kranji mrt station, and the red dot is the kranji reservoir. we can either take 925C that takes like 1hr to come, or walk there by following the brown route. looks easy enough to walk there.. but i dunno about the distance lah. heh.

erm. for lobster catching, bring along fishing nets and little tanks to store the lobster if we can catch them and decide to bring them home as pets. oh. dun even think about cooking the lobsters lah. they are only about the size of a prawn so nothing much to eat anyway.

and if i am not wrong, there is a field there. so maybe we can also play frisbee, soccer, or just fly kite.

honestly, i have never been there before. just heard about this cool activity from my cousin. so yah. if anyone knows anything about kranji reservoir, please share this info with us.

anyway come in your shorts/berms and sandals and explore this rural and peaceful part of singapore. haha. oh yah. better bring water and food cos i dunno if there are shops there.

It is with great regret and sorrow that I'm writing you, but I'm leaving home. I had to elope with my new boyfriend Randy because I wanted to avoid a scene with Mom and you. I've been finding real passion with Randy and he is so nice to me. I know when you meet him you'll like him too - even with all his piercing, tattoos, and motorcycle clothes.

But it's not only the passion Dad, I'm pregnant and Randy said that he wants me to have the kid and that we can be very happy together. Randy has a great CD collection; he already owns a trailer in the woods and has a stack of firewood for the whole winter. It's true he has other girlfriends as well but I know he'll be faithful to me in his own way. He wants to have many more children with me and that's now one of my dreams too.

Randy taught me that marijuana doesn't really hurt anyone and he'll be growing it for us and we'll trade it with our friends for all the cocaine and ecstasy we want. In the meantime, we'll pray that science will find a cure for AIDS so Randy can get better; he sure deserves it!!

Don't worry Dad, I'm 15 years old now and I know how to take care of myself. Someday I'm sure we'll be back to visit so you can get to know your grandchildren.

this is the main design at the back. and she proposed printing our individual name on the back of the shirt, at the upper left corner.

Physics in Action Programme (PAP)

Physics in Action Programme (PAP) is a peer tutoring programme that is targeted to help students who are keen to improve their understading in physics.

The peer tutors are students who have scored well in the recent Physics block test, and the target group of students to be tutored will be students who have scored O or F grade in the block test. A peer tutor will take care of a group of three or four students and each group will meet once a week for the tutoring session. Students who have scored better than O or F but are keen to participate are also welcome but priority will be given to the O and F students.

How to go about getting a peer tutor?

The Physics unit will form the all the groups with a peer tutor assigned to each group.

You may also form your own peer tutoring group by finding someone who has scored a grade A in their physics block test. If you are forming your own group, you are to indicate the name of your peer tutor at the Physics noticeboard by 21 April 2006 (Fri). For the rest of you, the groupings will be made known to you.

If I have scored well in the Physics block test, do I need to be a peer tutor?

You are strongly encouraged to be a peer tutor to help your fellow Hwa Chongians. Although you are coaching only a few students, you could be making a significant difference to their future.

While this programme is targeted at the underperforming students, it is our also aim that you will benefit from the programme. Teaching is the best way to further your understanding of the subject. Besides, you also get to forge invaluable friendship with your peer students. We would like to formally acknowledge your contribution by awarding you CIP hours for the participation in the programme (only for peer tutors).

Of course, we also understand that you might have your personal reasons for not being able to participate in the programme. Please inform your physics tutor or email me at chowcw@hc.edu.sg. if you wish to opt out of the programme. In any case, always extend a helping hand to anyone who needs help.

After the groups have been formed, how to I go about starting the tutoring sessions?

Once the groupings have been announced officially, you are required to establish contacts with your group members to fix a common day/time to conduct the tutoring sessions. Teaching materials will be provided by the Physics unit. You will need to revise the topic and attempt the questions before meeting up with your peer tutors for your weekly session. Peer tutors however will not need to limit yourself to just the questions provided but to be creative in your teaching to enhance understanding of Physics concepts.

This hypnotic sedative enhances the effects of alcohol: decreased inhibition, sleepiness, and memory loss. However, the drug's medical purpose is quite different; Rohypnol is primarily used as a surgical anesthetic or sleeping pill in about eighty countries, although the United States is not one of them. Drug enforcement officials say that Rohypnol is illegally coming into the United States from Mexico, Colombia, and Europe.
Unfortunately, the use of drugs, mostly alcohol, by sex abusers to sedate their "prey" has been practiced for centuries. Rohypnol is potentially a more dangerous addition to their arsenal. Many other drugs, primarily from the same family of drugs as Rohypnol (benzodiazepines), can also be used as "rape drugs." Beware. Rohypnol is a cheap and powerful drug ? a white, dime-sized pill that dissolves quickly in alcoholic and other beverages, such as soft drinks. Known as a "date rape drug" in high schools, on college campuses, and in other communities across the country, it's being used (mostly by men, according to recent criminal cases) to secretly sedate and sexually assault women and men. Roofie is dropped into drinks at bars and parties, leaving roofie recipients open to suggestion, physically weak, and perhaps most troubling of all, without memory of events that transpire after the drug takes effect. This has made prosecution of "roofie-rape" cases challenging, as people report waking up naked and alone in strange hotel rooms, for example, without any idea of how they got there and who was involved. And, it doesn't stop there. One of the newer club drugs, GHB (gamma hydroxybutyrate), is also being slipped into drinks and has become known as "Easy Lay." GHB, which produces psychedelic effects for the recreational user, has a sedating effect at higher doses.
Rohypnol creates a bitter taste when dissolved in alcohol. By now, lots of red warning lights should be flashing in your head. For starters, be aware of the color, texture, and taste of your drinks; accepting pre-purchased, open drinks of any kind from strangers and casual acquaintances should be avoided (unfortunately, this may harken back to mom and dad saying, "Don't accept candy from strangers"). Rohypnol's misuse also makes it advisable not to leave drinks unattended, even in familiar surroundings.
News Flash About Rohypnol
There is good news about Rohypnol: its manufacturer recently reformulated the drug to make it more detectable. When put in a light-colored drink, new Rohypnol will now turn the beverage bright blue. Consumers of darker-colored beverages should be tipped off by a cloudy appearance. The drug will also dissolve more slowly and form small chunky pieces (how pleasant). Keep in mind that it may take a while for this new Rohypnol to hit the streets.
It's possible for people who were sexually assaulted and suspect that they were drugged to be tested for the presence of Rohypnol and other drugs. These drugs can usually be detected in urine for about three days after ingestion, sometimes even a little longer. However, the sooner someone is tested, the better. Most rape crisis centers and hospitals will be able to run these tests.
This may be a big drag, but until roofie is run out of town, or loses its status as a drug of the day, prevention and education is the best way to protect yourself and others. So, spread the word.

Hey people who are volunteering for the Adventure Singapore 2006, there'll be a briefing at 7pm this Saturday (18th March) at the National Stadium Theatrette. The theatrette is located within the Kallang National Stadium. Go in via carpark A entrance. Alternatively, you can go to where the Club Fit gym is then turn left and walk for a short distance.
